They are also providing a training day for professionals on the 17th July in Ilminster. Mike Lew’s expertise is on male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, this will be the focus of the days

The day will be led by Mike Lew psychotherapist and group therapy leader. This will be a collaborative event with Thom Harrigan, clinical social worker and educator, along with moMENtum and an expert international panel of male survivors.

Mike Lew has worked with thousands of men and women in their healing from the effects of childhood sexual abuse, rape, physical violence, emotional abuse and neglect. He conducts public lectures, workshops for survivors, and training and consultations for mental health, medical, clergy, law enforcement and other professionals throughout the United States, in Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and Asia. Mike has taught at The City College of New York, Quinnipiac College, The College of New Rochelle and the University of California, Santa Cruz. Mike is the author of Victims No Longer: The Classic Guide for Men Recovering from Sexual Child Abuse.

Mike Lew’s expertise and the knowledge of the other experts is on male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, this will be the focus of the days training.

They will be damaged physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Every aspect of their lives will be affected. When they become adults, they will be plagued with sexual dysfunction, troubled relationships, a poor sense of self-worth and intimacy difficulties. Many will become drug addicts. Some will destroy themselves. Most of them will suffer the effects of sexual abuse without ever realizing that they were victimized. When they read or hear about sexual abuse they probably will not hear about male victims”
