In a world that is more connected digitally than ever before, the scourge of loneliness and isolation persists, affecting countless lives. Recognising the urgency of addressing this issue, we were thrilled to earlier this year announce the relaunch of Happy to Share, a heartfelt initiative aimed at fostering connections, building communities, and combating the silent struggles of loneliness.

As part of our relaunch, we have been excited to create partnerships with like-minded organisations that share our vision where no one feels alone. These collaborations have strengthen our ability to reach a wider audience and amplify the impact of Happy to Share.

Firstly, our Mental Health Fair held in May stands out as a pivotal moment, bringing together from all walks of life to engage in open conversations about mental health. The diverse range of stalls, workshops, and activities served as a powerful reminder that our collective strength lies in embracing the richness of different perspectives.

Our Recovery Day in October was also a testament to the triumph of the human spirit. Personal stories shared, art exhibited, and collaborative activities underscored the profound impact of shared experiences in overcoming mental health challenges. It was a day dedicated to celebrating victories in Recovery in Devon, both big and small, and fostering a sense of unity within our community.

Recovery Day was a vibrant blend of familiar and new faces, symbolising the continuity of our community’s support. The presence of longtime members showcased shared history, while newcomers brought fresh energy, highlighting the inclusive spirit of our commitment to recovery and wellbeing. The mingling of old and new created a dynamic atmosphere, fostering connections and emphasizing the enduring strength of our community.

Moving forward

As 2023 comes to a close, we acknowledge and celebrate the transitions within our Recovery Devon CIC family. It is a bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to individuals moving on to new pastures, embarking on exciting journeys in the form of new jobs and well-deserved retirements. Their contributions have left a lasting impact on Recovery Devon, shaping the positive influence we’ve had on mental health and recovery in our community.

In the spirit of evolution and continuity, Sami and Jody stepping into the role of Co-Managing Directors for our organisation in September delighted us. Their collaborative approach promises fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that align with the core values of Recovery Devon.

Moreover, as we welcome this new chapter, we are also excited about the fresh perspectives and energy brought by some new board. In the new year, we look forward to introducing you to these individuals who will contribute their expertise and dedication to further advance our commitment to mental health, recovery, and wellbeing.

We remain steadfastly grateful for the continued support of our current longstanding, very experienced, and valued board members, who have been the bedrock of our organisation, providing wisdom and guidance throughout our journey.
