Headway Devon are a local brain injury charity working in collaboration with The Moving Tribe (individuals experiencing communication difficulties after brain injury) to provide creative arts therapy to improve life.

‘We have just started a 12-month Creative Journal Project to help people develop their creative expression and organise and reflect on thoughts and feelings to help support wellbeing.

We would like to invite anyone interested in improving wellbeing to join our project, meeting at The XCentre, Commercial Road for our Community Coffee Mornings on 2nd Sat of each month to discuss progress and meet and share ideas with other members.

You don’t have to have experience of a brain injury to join our group, but we will have many members who do, so this might be of particular benefit to any of your group who do have a brain injury (or neurological condition such as dementia or Parkinsons), or have friends or relatives living with this type of injury to access more support.

We are meeting again on Sat 12th November 2022 to catch up and share ideas.

Each project participant would receive a beautiful blank or lined A4/A5 journal from us, in which they can start sketching, painting, adding photos, postcards, magazine cut outs and any general thoughts and ideas as they go about their daily lives.

This can encourage cognitive development and independent creative thinking, and help people focus when they are out and about and record things that they enjoy or struggle with. It can help people to work through difficult periods of their lives and write down thoughts and feelings they might not normally be able to express to others.

We have 50 journals ready to hand out and get started. A small contribution to the costs of these journals would be welcome, but not essential.
