A huge thank you to all of those who joined in with our workshop at the Bloom Festival at the Phoenix Theatre.

The Bloom Festival is a yearly free community festival for mental health awareness week at The Phoenix Theatre.

The festival includes workshops, music, poetry, storytelling, panel discussions, and this year they even had a visit from Patrick the pony!

For this years event, Recovery Devon collaborated with Hayley Watson to offer a free 2 hour workshop to create a set of Phoenix Wings. The idea behind the workshop was that participants could create personal and unique feathers to be placed altogether to create the wings. The feathers could be made out of different textiles and include messages of mental health lived experience, hope and struggle.

The participants created a beautiful installation, and all within a 2 hour workshop.

Whilst creating we shared experiences, spoke about the things that helped whilst struggling and talked about how loneliness had impacted our lives over the last few years.

The Phoenix Wings created at the end of this workshop shows a collaborative sharing of overcoming and strength, of a group of people able to rise from darkness to share the light.

The wings will be on display at The Phoenix Theatre for PRIDE on Saturday 14th May.

We encourage people to stand in front of the wings and take a selfie with them to show them rising with us.
