Learn writing for free with WriteWell & Recovery Devon

Have you always wondered whether writing could help you de-stress and boost your positivity? Or are you already a dedicated diarist and poet? Whether you’ve never picked up a pen, or can’t travel without one, we’ve got something worth trying.

An online writing community designed to support mental health and wellbeing recently launched on 22nd February. Developed by the Professional Writing Academy, WriteWell offers people the opportunity to explore writing as a practical self-care tool to boost health and happiness.

To support our community during the pandemic, we’ve partnered with WriteWell to offer FREE 3-month places in their online writing community.

WriteWell offers the opportunity to tune into the power that writing and creativity have to bring perspective and fresh insight, particularly in difficult times. A growing body of research shows that writing and creativity can have a positive effect on mental health and help to build resilience. At the same time, being part of a learning community and writing alongside others can motivate, inspire change, and help alleviate feelings of isolation.

WriteWell is designed to work for people from all education levels and backgrounds. As well as supporting mental health, it offers the opportunity to develop writing and creative skills.

The online platform offers a variety of learning activities for people to take part in. There are courses designed to help you build resilience, navigate change and create calm, as well live workshops with writing and wellbeing experts. There are also fun creative warm-ups, a library packed with uplifting resources, and a monthly book group.

WriteWell offers a safe learning space with moderators managing the community day to day, helping people find and complete activities. It is easy to access and easy to use.

If you’re thinking of contributing to our new anthology of recovery stories “Weathering The Storms,” this could be a great way to get started. We’re seeking stories from people who have cared for someone with mental illness, and also run workshops to help you find your voice in a friendly, relaxed setting. If you’re interested in finding out more, please email community@recoverydevon.co.uk

A couple of things to note; you need to be aged 18 or over to join WriteWell, and if you decide to continue beyond the 3 month period, there’s a small monthly charge – but you’ll be reminded when the 3 months are up, and no payment details are ever taken unless you actively decide to continue.
