News round-up and events of interest – Apr 17

Filed in News on 5th April 2017

Recovery Devon are involved in several up-coming events which you are also welcome to attend, from conferences to open days. Here’s a quick round-up…

Refocus Conference

Our own Ian and James have both had their abstracts accepted for the Refocus on Recovery conference at Nottingham in September (congratulations!). Ian will be presenting on the work of LEAP and James will be presenting on the Recovery Devon Development Fund. Glenn Roberts is also going as a delegate and we are hoping to set-up a stand for Recovery Devon where Beyond the Storms and other information will be available.

Recovery Days

The Barnstaple wards of Ocean View and Moorland View are having a Recovery Day on May 11th and James will be running a couple of Tea and Talk sessions with the Occupational Therapy staff. This is one of the ways Recovery Devon stay involved, listening to the real experiences of people giving and receiving mental-health care.

Wellbeing Day

On September 3rd at Haven Banks we will be joining RISE, Active Devon, EDP Drug and Alcohol Services, and others to hold a Recovery and Wellbeing Day. This is strictly in the planning phase at present and we will keep you posted on developments. However, it’s exciting to see the co-operation and involvement of so many agencies in different but related fields. Watch this space!
